Cape Dress Pattern

A custom, printable pattern for a cape dress can be generated for free and without registration.

The pattern has different options for zipper and cape which can be changed according to your preference. The page about the cape dress also shows the cape styles. The cape of this pattern already includes the improved shoulder and curved side seam.

Measurements

When taking measurement stand upright and do not pull the tape too tight. Also avoid measuring above other clothing. Best is to ask someone else for help taking the measurements.

Unfortunately I was only able to test the fit of the pattern for few sizes. Please sew a test piece from scrap fabric with only the bodice and sleeves, and check if it fits well around the armpits. I would appreciate any feedback to improve the pattern.

Assembly Instructions

Before printing the pattern, make sure to not scale the page by setting the page to "100%" or "no scaling", making sure your computer does not shrink it. Every large pattern piece includes a reference square to be used for checking it has exactly the expected size.

The pages have matching numbers on the edges that require cutting and have to be assembled together.

Sewing Instructions

Most of this dress is sewn like a regular dress with a cape. Sewing the curved cape hem requires some extra steps. In case you chose to go for a side- and shoulder zipper, you can follow the instructions for sewing a hidden zipper in a cape shoulder seam.
