Jumper Dress

A jumper dress or just jumper is a sleeveless dress, intended to be worn over a top or blouse. In British English it is known as pinafore dress.
The bodice is usually straight and loose, with a full skirt. Often it can be slipped over the head and has no closures at all. Depending on the style and fit, it can have buttons, zippers or waist ties.

The most basic style of a jumper dress is the Plain Modest Jumper Dress.

Underneath the jumper dress a sleeved top is worn, which used to be a blouse or an underdress, which combines a petticoat and blouse. Because of its looseness the jumper dress can used as a pinafore by being worn over another dress for protection against dirt.

If the bodice of the jumper is cut a bit more fitted, it needs openings such as a side zipper or button-front.
