Plain and Modest Clothes
Modesty describes a humble appearance that does not attact attention to wearer by their clothing, its color or style. Modest clothing should not be elaborate or costly, but simple in appearance, rather than sophisticated or luxurious.
The common understanding of modesty for both genders is to have a decent cut that is not revealing and covers the upper body up to the neck, covering the shoulders by having at least short sleeves and the bottoms reaching to the ankles. Modesty also includes to not emphasize the body shape, which requires the tops and bottoms to have a reasonable ease.
Plain clothes are basic and simple in style, with no decoration or adornment in any way. The whole outfit consists of clothes with only solid and muted colors or a very slight pattern.
Dressing plain modest simplifies the wardrobe and rejecting fads and fashion comes with some advantages.
Everyone can dress Plain Modest
Despite Plain Modest clothing is mostly worn by religious people, it is just an expression of values and not a religious symbol. It can be worn by anyone, regardless of religious affiliation, because it is only worn for modesty, which is always appreciated.
How it looks like
For men this means wearing pants and shirt while women are dressed with skirts, either as dress or a blouse and skirt.
Why does women's clothing look so different?
When comparing modest with non-modest clothing, there is noticeable difference for women's garment. While men's modest clothing just looks like usual clothing, the women's modest clothing does look completely different from what we are used to. This is because the men's fashion has not changed much, over the last centuries. But the women's fashion changed drastically, especially in the past decades and, finally got completely off the rails.
